Some bamboo species can even grow 1 meter each day. Bamboo provides a better balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide because it intakes more green house gases and produces 35% more oxygen. Bamboo is extremely versatile - there are approximately 1000 species of bamboo on earth. The diversity makes it more adaptable to different types of environments than most other softwoods. Bamboo is a renewable resource that is abundantly available in many rural areas where economic development is limited. By researching and developing more ways to utilize bamboo, we are offering rural areas an opportunity to maintain their culture and lifestyle while lifting their economic situation. Economic studies have shown that by developing more usage for bamboo, we have the potential to provide income, food and housing to over 2.2 billion people worldwide. Bamboo usage and growth allow us to re-green degraded area such as Hiroshima after the bombing. UNLIKE COTTON Unlike cotton (unless certified organic), which requires a large amount of pesticides to maintain growth, bamboo is naturally irrigated. This means that textile made of bamboo has natural functions of anti-bacteria, bacteriostasis and deodorization. 100% bamboo yarn shows a 20% greater elasticity in the yarn. This means that certain bamboo clothing does not even require elastic. Bamboo fabric requires less dye than cotton, modal or viscose, and the color is much more vivid. It is widely known that bamboo fabric is as soft as cashmere or tencel. Bamboo fiber is biodegradable textile material. As a natural cellulose fiber, It can be 100% biodegraded in soil by microorganism and sunshine. The decomposition process doesn't cause any pollution to the environment. MENDENHALL GLACIERThe picture at the top right is beautiful Mendenhall Glacier near Juneau, Alaska. Since the visitor center was built in the 1960s, the glacier now begins more than a mile from where it began then. It is only one of the many glaciers throughout the earth that is melting at accelerated rates because of global warming, created at least in part by human impact on the climate.
